What kinds of companies do you look for?
Here at Tech Wildcatters, we know what we’re good at and we know where we can add value. Dallas is a business town plain and simple. So we look for B2B tech companies. If you’re a web or software company that expects your revenue to come mainly from Fortune 1000, then you are probably right for us. We don’t fund any medical devices, biotech, real estate or oil and gas exploration companies. Sorry if that Wildcatter word threw ya’ off.
Why don’t you fund consumer applications?
As you probably know, there a few programs like ours around the country now. As you might guess, our number one goal is to add the maximum amount of value to your company that we can. We feel that we can add the most value to companies that are selling to businesses, because that is what our mentors know best.
How much funding will our company get?
Tech Wildcatters companies receive $10K per company and an additional $5K per founder, up to $25K. That’s basically $20K for two founders and $25K for three or more founders.
What else do we get?
While cash is nice, there are a lot of other things you get at Tech Wildcatters worth far more. Our awesome mentors for one. They come from a range of backgrounds; some are serial entrepreneurs with lots of experience to draw from, some are experienced angel investors who can help you navigate through funding waters, others are subject matter experts and finally we have some great corporate partners that provide a level of access unheard of in most new startups. You also get to work in our cool office if you want and get access to free and discounted services (legal, accounting, etc).
What does Tech Wildcatters get?
We typically ask for 2-10% of a company’s common founding stock.
Why would I go to Dallas? Don’t ya’ll wear cowboy boots and ride horses to work?
Ha ha, very funny! Did you know that Dallas has one of the largest concentrations of corporations in the world? We are home to 25 Fortune 500 companies and our mentors have relationships with all of them.
